The vibrant, new, Lower Lonsdale area is looking good these days, and this past weekend, it got a chance to show off a little more than usual. The Lower Lonsdale Fall Festival took full advantage of the late season sun to celebrate with live music, kids’ activities, merchants and more. Fun and fashionable, this cool community event paired the changing seasons with the changing landscape in a modern and upbeat salute to autumn. B Getting ready to take the stage with their tractor-jazz sounds was the band Headwater. C John Braithwaite Community Centre staff Cara Goggs, left, Emily Wimbles and Shauna Mokelki came out to welcome fall. D It’s a Smart car and smart savings for Vancity’s Shelina Verjee, who works at the Westview branch. E Three cheers for Heather Sharpe, of Sharpe Creations Event Management, who helped put the big event together. F It takes more than a little orange corn snake to scare North Van RCMP officer Babak Dabiri. G Colourful costumes and snappy sounds are the trademarks of the Freddy Fudpucker Rolling Clones band. H Jen Rowe, left, and Tesla Ingram, of the Westcoast Society for the Protection & Conservation of Reptiles (WSPCR), expertly handle a boa constrictor and bearded dragon for the crowd.
