A night out for new North Shore moms
A group of new moms is meeting at a café in North Vancouver to sip tea and learn style solutions for their time-crunched lives.
They will leave knowing the dos and don'ts for their body types and how to mix-and-match for busy days. Nannies will look after their babies, close enough for the moms to keep an eye on them too.
This is one of the first events by the North Shore's Modern Mama, a company that hosts fashion, lifestyle and parenting events for moms with their babies in tow.
On Feb. 5 from 7 to 9 p.m., they are gathering at DavidsTea in Edgemont Village to meet with Yummy Mummy Makeovers, sample tea (with recommendations for moms who are pregnant or breastfeeding) and eat chocolate treats. Like all events, there is a fee around $20.
"We get moms out of the house and they don't have to find a nanny or daycare," says Angela Santoro, co-owner of Modern Mama's North Shore branch.
Most of the events focus on moms, but their young children are welcome to come along. Each event has an age recommendation: infants, toddlers or preschoolers, but most evenings out are for pre-walking aged babies.
"We're for new moms who are in a transition in their lives, and may not know many other moms," adds Santoro, mother of two young daughters.
Other events include toddler tantrum and potty training workshops, an infant sleep seminar with breakfast at the Cactus Club and a launch part on Jan. 27 at Gymboree North Shore.
Nannies are onsite to change diapers, provide bottles, calm babies or just to help with bathroom breaks or strollers.
