Orphaned North Shore kittens need a good home
A handful of orphaned kittens will be waiting for the right person to adopt them during Pet Appreciation Day at VanPet in Lynn Valley on Saturday (Sept. 14).
Many of these furry felines have been given a second chance at life thanks to Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association (VOKRA).
"Most of our kittens are from mother cats who were abandoned while pregnant or they were kittens we have found motherless," says VOKRA spokesperson Alexis Baran. "Our cats come from all over — almost all have been abandoned completely and left to fend for themselves on the streets when we find them."
Adult cats that Baran describes as gentle will also be available for adoption at the event. In order to expedite the process, VOKRA is asking those interested in adopting a cat to fill out an online application form in advance at vokra.ca.
"We are very excited to be involved with the community and VanPet for Pet Appreciation Day," says VOKRA president and co-founder Karen Duncan. "The kitties we will be bringing are all from our North Shore foster homes, and they are all rescued cats and kittens who are available for adoption."
Pet Appreciation Day runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 14 at VanPet, 193 - 1277 Lynn Valley Rd.
