Willy's charged up about his Volt
You are: Willy Percy
The car: 2013 Chevrolet Volt
Tell us about it: I’ve had it since December 2012 and I have travelled over 35,000 km and not used one millilitre of gasoline to do it! Range is about 70 km and more and more charging stations are showing up all over the lower mainland. And they are all free to use! It takes around four hours to charge an empty battery and uses roughly 97 cents of electricity to do so. If I ever do run out of battery power, the gas generator kicks in and, like a regular gas vehicle, I could drive it across Canada on gasoline if I so desired. It is silent, quick, and very, very well done. This isn’t my mom’s Chevy. I find excuses to take extra trips just because it’s so much fun to drive, and uses absolutely no gas!
Favourite driving tunes: “Love Song” (Simple Minds), “Gold on the Ceiling” (The Black Keys), “Stop” (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) and “Four Sticks” (Led Zeppelin).
Your other car: Toyota Highlander Limited Hybrid.
Favourite car movie? Vanishing Point or Gumball Rally or Talladega Nights.
Favourite bumper sticker? Where are we going, and why are we in this handcart? Or There are three kinds of people in this world: Those that can count, and those that can’t!
First car: 1976 Honda Civic station wagon — pumpkin orange with black wheels. Sweet cruising chick magnet. And I loved it.
