Subway robbery suspect arrested
North Vancouver RCMP have arrested a suspect in connection with the robbery of a Lower Lonsdale Subway restaurant on Jan. 31.
Jason Loewen, 32, faces a charge of robbery after police say he entered the Subway in the 200-block of Lonsdale Avenue, adjacent to Third Street, and allegedly demanded money at knife point.
According to an RCMP release, Loewen allegedly walked in to the restaurant at approximately 5:30 p.m. and ordered a sandwich before attempting the robbery. He escaped on foot.
Patrol cars in the neigbourhood flooded the area, while other officers conducted foot patrols. Loewen was spotted at the SeaBus terminal attempting to get to Vancouver. Police confronted him and after a short struggle, placed him in custody.
Loewen has been released and is scheduled to return to North Vancouver provincial court on Feb. 9.
Police say he is a resident of the North Vancouver area, but has no fixed address.
