UPDATE: Missing man found on Mount Seymour
A missing North Vancouver man has been found after spending the night in the woods around Mount Seymour.
In a press release, North Vancouver RCMP say they received a call at 6:30 a.m. this morning (Feb. 18) after a man matching Dennis Ivanov's description was spotted heading to the top of the mountain.
As RCMP officers were en route to Seymour, television crews already on location interviewing North Shore Rescue officials spotted Ivanov in the parking lot.
Police say he was in distress, cold and suffering the effects of hypothermia. He has been transported to Lions Gate Hospital for treatment.
"A large number of personnel helped with this search and we would like to thank them for their assisstance," said Cpl. peter DeVries, spokesman for the North Van RCMP, in the release.
"We are extremely relived Mr. Ivanov has been found, albeit cold, but alive."
Ivanov, 21, went missing yesterday (Feb. 17) after having an argument with his mother. He went into the woods at the top of Hyannis Drive and walked in the direction of the Baden Powell trail.
