Scruffy pickpockets targeting West Van businesses

Police are warning West Vancouver businesses to be on the lookout for a pair of "scruffy looking" wallet thieves.

In the past three days, officers have investigated three wallet thefts at Marine Drive businesses in the Ambleside and Dundarave areas.

In a press release Thursday (April 7), Cpl. Jag Johal said the three thefts "appear to have various similarities," leading police to believe they are looking for the same pair of suspects.

In the first two cases, which occurred the evening of Apr. 4, two "scruffy looking females" entered businesses and stole employees' wallets from behind the cash register and employee storage room.

After midnight the third theft took place. A female suspect stole an employee's wallet from the back office of a business in the 1400-block of Marine Dr.

The suspect is described as a slim 30-year-old caucasian, approximately five-foot-four and 125 pounds. At the time of the crime she had light brown hair in pigtails.

Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call West Vancouver Police at 604-925-7300.

Anonymous tips can also be made to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Tips that lead to a conviction could be eligible for a $2,000 reward.
