Boat thieves at work in West Van
Thieves are targeting boats in West Vancouver, ripping off valuables and, in one case, the boat itself.
West Van police say they've had more than eight complaints in recent days about thefts from moored vessels reaching from the 5700-block of Marine Drive all the way to the end of Isleview Road in Horseshoe Bay.
A television, a kayak, tools, gasoline and liquor have all been taken in the recent rash of thefts and police are warning area residents and boat owners to be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour.
The largest item taken was a 19-foot Zeta boat, since found and recovered on the Surrey side of the Fraser River.
Police are still investigating theses thefts and are asking anyone with information about them to contact the West Vancouver Police Department at 604-925-7300.
Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-6477 (TIPS).
