Retail giant coming to the North Shore

American retail giant Target has set its sights on the North Shore with an aim to opening a store in North Vancouver's Lynn Valley Centre.

The Target Corporation announced Friday that it will open 125 to 135 new stores across the country, including one at the Lynn Valley Centre, by 2013.

The new store locations are part of a group of 220 leases selected as part of a transaction with Canadian discount retailer Zellers Inc., a subsidiary of the Hudson's Bay Company.

Some of those Zellers leases, like the Lynn Valley Centre store, will become Target stores while the remaining have been or will be sold to other retailers or back to their landlords, Target said in a press release Friday.
