Brooksbank rail expansion on track in North Vancouver
Federal trade minister and minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, Ed Fast, paid a visit to North Vancouver Wednesday to announce the completion of the Brooksbank underpass expansion.
The minister was joined by North Vancouver MP Andrew Saxton and Port Metro Vancouver president Robin Silvester at the site of the expansion to add new rail tracks into North Vancouver's port terminals.
The Brooksbank expansion is part of the $3.5 billion Asia-Pacific Gateway project which includes other North Vancouver infrastructure upgrades like the Philip Avenue grade separation, the Low-Level Road realignment and the grade separation at the Neptue-Cargill rail site.
Minister Fast said the underpass expansion will not only boost access for Canadian commodities to Asian markets through Port Metro Vancouver, but will benefit North Van residents by reducing noise and traffic congestion at the site.
