Pedestrian killed in West Vancouver
West Vancouver police are investigating after a man was struck and killed by a motorist on Marine Drive Friday morning.
At approximately 6:30 a.m., the 65-year-old victim was crossing Marine Drive mid-block when he was hit. The victim had just stepped off a transit bus on the south side of the 2100 block of Marine Drive and was crossing to the north side when he was hit by an eastbound vehicle.
West Vancouver police said in a press release Friday that it was dark and raining heavily at the time of the incident.
The West Vancouver Police Department and the RCMP's Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) are still investigating the incident and the identity of the victim has not been released.
The West Vancouver police remind all citizens to use caution when crossing roadways and to wear clothing which is bright and easy for motorists to see.
