Two girls, 9, lured by North Van sexual predator
Police are warning the public after a man lured two nine-year-old girls into a North Vancouver forest, molesting one.
At approximately 4:10 p.m. on July 25, a man approached the girls in the 1400 block of Ross Road in Lynn Valley and asked them to walk with him south into a forested area to look at a 100-year-old tree.
While walking down a trail, the lone man asked both girls to each take a photograph with him.
While posing for a photograph with one of the girls, the man touched her in “an inappropriate sexual manner,” said Lower Mainland RCMP spokesman Sgt. Peter Thiessen in a press release on July 26.
Both girls left the area after their photographs were taken and were unharmed physically.
The suspect is not known to either girl and is described by police as a Caucasian male in his 50s.
Thiessen said police do not believe this incident is related to the brazen June 28th sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl inside her Capilano Road home.
“We are advising all North Vancouver parents to be extra vigilant when allowing their children to venture on their own and ensure they do not interact with strangers,” Thiessen said.
The North Vancouver RCMP Sex Crimes Unit is actively investigating the incident and anyone with any information that may assist in identifying and locating the suspect is asked call the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
