Upcoming West Van public meeting on government policy towards Iran
An update on Canadian government policy towards Iran is being held this weekend at Sentinel High School threatre in West Vancouver.
MP John Weston, liaison to the Iranian community, will be there to hear about the impact of recent developments, including the embassy closure and stiffening of sanctions against the Iranian government.
Canada suspended diplomatic relations with Iran in September, closing its embassy in Tehran and expelling Iranian diplomats from Canada.
"It's important for our leaders to hear how their policies (sanction and closure of the embassy) are impacting people here," said Weston in a release. "I'm eager to hear views from the community and to ensure Prime Minister Harper and our other leaders have the benefit of those views as well."
Informal translation services from English to Farsi will be available. Admission is free.
Date: Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012
Time: 3 - 5 p.m.
Location: Sentinel High School theatre
1251 Chartwell Drive, West Vancouver
