Thieves break into 30 vehicles in North Van overnight
Thieves put an end to some North Vancouver residents' Christmas spirit when they broke into more than 30 vehicles the day after boxing day.
Overnight on Dec. 27, they smashed windows of cars parked on Upper Lonsdale and Lynn Valley streets and along East Keith Road.
Some of the vehicles had high-prices items stolen, while others are missing only loose change.
The thieves targeted all types of vehicles, new and old, said RCMP spokesman Cpl. Doug Trousdell.
"At this point we're still gathering information," he said, adding there are no suspects at this time.
To protect your vehicle, police recommend parking in well-lit areas, removing even small items including loose change, using a car alarm and taking spare keys with you.
To report a vehicle break in call the North Van RCMP non-emergency number at 604-985-1311.
