A West Vancouver man is facing several charges including forcible confinement and aggravated assault after police seized a significant cache of weapons and ammunition from his home during a domestic violence complaint.

West Vancouver patrol officers responded to a call to a home in the 300-block of Moyne Drive shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday. Upon entering the home, a 35-year-old woman was found suffering injuries to her head and body consistent with a severe assault.

The victim was apparently hit several times with a firearm, according to the West Van police.

A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene. As a result of further investigation, a search warrant was obtained for the home and officers subsequently seized 28 guns and a substantial quantity of ammunition from the residence.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been released.

En Zhong Li, 42, of West Vancouver made his first appearance in North Vancouver Provincial Court Monday, where the Crown approved eight charges against him, including aggravated assault, forcible confinement, use of a firearm in the commission of an offence and four counts of unsafe storage of a firearm.

Li was remanded in custody for a further court appearance the following day.
