West Van works on traffic congestion
Driving along Marine Drive in West Vancouver can be slow during rush hour, particularly around Ambleside.
To help keep traffic flowing, drivers and cyclists can't turn left from Marine Drive onto 14th and 16th streets while travelling westbound from 4 to 6 p.m. weekdays. This rule starts March 4.
“Staff has been concerned about traffic congestion on Marine Drive for quite a while,” said District of West Vancouver transportation engineer Norm Wong. “Detailed analysis of traffic patterns indicates that restricting left turns may help improve traffic flow.”
Watch for new traffic signs being put up this weekend.
