West Van public elementary makes perfect 10 in annual report
An elementary school in West Vancouver is the only public school in B.C. to get a top grade by The Fraser Institute.
Tying with 11 private schools, West Bay Elementary was given a perfect 10 for the No. 1 spot.
The report released today graded 853 elementary schools from B.C., with some in North and West Vancouver placing near the top of the list. Reading, writing and math skills were assessed for Grade 4 and 7 students, as well as the gender gap in reading and math for Grade 7 students.
Schools in West Van were graded between 8.1 and 10 out of 10, while schools in North Van had a larger discrepancy from 1.9 to 9 in the controversial report.
