Water park, spinner bowl planned for John Lawson Park
John Lawson Park's new playground is inspired by nature and the ocean and includes a waterpark, spinner bowl and bucket swings.
Starting next month, the park will be closed for around five months while the aging playground is torn down to make way for its $800,000 replacement.
"We're getting away from brightly coloured steel and plastic," said Ian Haras, West Vancouver's manager of park operations. Instead, natural materials such as wood will be used for the play equipment.
Communal play will be highlighted throughout the playground, including plans for a spinner bowl, which is like a "giant bucket" that spins and tilts while kids sit inside.
John Lawson's picnic areas, washrooms, beach and pier are still open during construction.
