West Van police nab liquor store robbery suspect
It was a quick run from crime to custody for an alleged West Vancouver liquor store robber Wednesday.
West Vancouver police received a report of a robbery just before 1 p.m. at a liquor store at 100 Park Royal Rd South. A suspect ran from the store with an undisclosed amount of cash after indicating to staff he had a weapon, the West Vancouver police said in a release.
The police response was assisted by an alert citizen who also called police when the suspect was seen running from the store.
WVPD officers tracked the suspect to a nearby bus stop and made an arrest without incident or injury approximately seven minutes after the initial robbery report, police said.
All the cash has been recovered and accounted for. A detailed area search was conducted, however, no weapon was found.
Investigators will recommend a charge of Robbery with a Weapon or imitation Thereof, police said.
A 34-year-old Vancouver man is being held in custody pending a first appearance at North Vancouver Provincial Court Thursday.
