UPDATE: North Vancouver homicide victim identified
Police have identified the victim of Saturday's fatal shooting as 69-year-old Rostam Poulad-Noshiravan.
In a release, Sgt. Bari Emam of the Integrated Homicide Team said: "Mr. Poulad-Noshiravan was not known to police and investigators are in the process of determining a motive for this case."
Emam urged anyone with information about the case to contact police.
"The victim’s family are shocked by this incident and also hoping that tips from the public and those who may know something can assist the investigators in getting some answers.”
Shortly after 1 p.m. on Saturday, North Van RCMP responded to a call of a shooting in the 4000-block of St. Georges, a quiet Upper Lonsdale neighbourhood.
There, they found the shooting victim, who later died from his injuries.
Southbound bridge traffic on the North Shore was halted midday Saturday when police set up checkpoints as they hunted for a suspect in the shooting.
IHIT investigators say a grey or silver import-style car was spotted driving away from the crime scene and are asking the public for tips that will help identify the car and its occupants.
