More information on Tim Jones' memorial Saturday
A celebration of life will be held for late North Shore Rescue leader Tim Jones at Centennial Theatre this Saturday, Jan. 25 at noon.
An honour guard procession will start at 10:30 a.m. at the Fell Armoury (15th Street and Forbes Avenue), proceed east along 15th Street to Lonsdale, then north on Lonsdale to Centennial Theatre.The public are invited to watch the procession from the sidewalks in the area.
There will be road closures, detours, and limited parking along the procession route (see below). There will be no parking available at, or in the vicinity, of Centennial Theatre (2300 Lonsdale Ave.).
Inside Centennial Theatre, where the memorial will take place, seating is limited to invited guests only. The general public is invited to view the memorial service, starting at noon, on a large screen located in the theatre's parking lot.
Those attending the memorial are be advised to dress for the weather and note that chairs will not be provided. People are also being encouraged to carpool, walk, cycle or take public transit.
At the family’s request, donations in memory of Jones can be made through North Shore Rescue's website at northshorerescue.com.
Information regarding road closures, delays and detours on Jan. 25 :
Bus Service: Bus service on West 15th (between Forbes and Lonsdale Avenue) and Lonsdale (between 15th Street and 23rd Street) will be suspended as the procession travels along the route. Transit passengers should expect delays.
