Lynn Valley welcomes Olympic flame
The drizzle did not dampen spirits as North Van residents came out to cheer on the Olympic flame.
Lynn Valley Town Centre was packed with hundreds of people, most with Canada flags in hand. At 1:52 p.m., after crossing the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, the torch could be seen by the crowd overspilling the celebration square.
Grade 8 Argyle student Cassandra Brondgeest ran the torch into the centre.
This afternoon the flame is headed for a trip up Grouse Mountain before it reaches the North Shore's final celebration site at the West Vancouver Community Centre.
The party starts at 6 p.m. with music and entertainment and the torch is scheduled to arrive around 8 p.m.
